Job Description The candidate will participate in activities as a Network Services subject matter expert covering various aspects of the Network Infrastructure. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, support, troubleshooting, monitoring and maintenance of a 7x24 data communications environment. . Job Responsibilities Working within a corporate data centre concentrating on LAN, MAN, and WAN. This individual also works with technical project teams comprised of members from other departments andor areas of Infrastructure Services, to determine requirements, research, evaluate, develop andor acquire, implement and provide technical support for enterprise networking products to support business requirements. Responsible for the capacity planning, security assessment and performance tuning of the systems as well as the development and modifications of the networking architecture, standards and procedures. Establishes guidelines related to the operability and high availability of the related network services and initiates changes to enhance problem avoidance. Plans and performs hardware, software, appliance and related tools installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrades on the enterprise systems. Provides account management, system monitoring and security services on the systems. This includes the set up and access provisioning for the users. Assists in the preparation of RFPs, RFQs and Business Cases and participates in the evaluation and selection of technical solutions. Develops, manages and reports on detailed project plans. Ensures effective corporate standard, system security, internal processing controls and audit controls are maintained. Job Qualifications Demonstrated experience and knowledge of current and emerging networking, communication and Internet related technologies, including but not limited to hardware, software and appliance solutions, high availability and security technologies, local and wide area networks. Demonstrated experience in planning, evaluation, analysis, design, implementation and integration of enterprise networking products in a large, diverse computing and data communication environment. Demonstrated experience in capacity planning, system monitoring, performance tuning and problem determinations in a complex operating environment. Experience and thorough knowledge of current and emerging network technologies and protocols such as, but not limited to, Local Area Networks, Metro Area Networks and Wide Area Networks, VPN, VLAN Technology, DNS, DHCP, IP Management, TCPIP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and VoIP. Experience in designing access, transport data network technology and architecture coupled with an in-depth knowledge and experience in the design of inter-network routing architectures. Experience managing and supporting multiple TCPIP networks. Experience and thorough knowledge of Cisco routers and switches including associated hardware and software. Experience and thorough knowledge of Cisco VoIP wireless technologies including associated hardware and software. A sound knowledge of Checkpoint security appliances McAfee IPS and content filtering and F5 load balancers and McAfee Web Filtering. A university degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or the approved equivalent of education and or work experience. Cisco Checkpoint certifications are asset. Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, communications skills, both written and oral. Demonstrated ability to work independently as a team member. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, at both technical and non-technical levels. Willing to be on an on-call rotation for 24x7 support of production systems.
